Doug Varone & Sealy

Doug Varone has choreographed contemporary dance for the concert stage, as well as opera, Broadway, regional theater, film and television. He has created 48 dances for his own company, Doug Varone and Dancers, and has been commissioned as a choreographer by various renown companies such as the Limón Company, Batsheva Dance Company, and the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. He has also been credited for choreographing several operas for the Metropolitan Opera, including Stravinsky’s “Le Sacre du Printemps” and Strauss’ “Salome”. Doug is seen here posing with Sealy, an equine neighbor from the farm next door. I had originally matched the two subjects because Sealy’s silver spotted coat reminded me of Doug’s salt and pepper hair. But the focus entirely shifted when Doug suggested he do the shot naked.
