Karole Armitage

Karole, Artistic Director of Armitage Gone! Dance, was at the festival with her company for the first time since its inception in 2005. Karole began her career dancing Balanchine as a member of Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève. Karole was also a member of the Merce Cunningham company in the late 1970’s. She began to receive international notice as a dancer/choreographer in the early 1980’s with a series of modern dances accompanied by punk rock music. And, to top it off, this is the lady credited with choreographing “Vogue” for Madonna.
