At the time of this photo, August 2004, Peter Boal was still a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet. He was performing at Jacob's Pillow with his own select group of NYCB principals under the name Peter Boal & Company. In November of 2004, Peter was named artistic director of the Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle. Peter is a super-nice guy, humble, yet very confident in his artistry and craft. This photo was made up in the fields behind the Derby House, a 19th century farmhouse adjacent to the festival and acquired as part of the Pillow property. This make-up job, which is actually dirt, had us thinking about 'Lord of the Fllies'.
